Spotcolor Institute online program is the completion of a high-quality art portfolio of student work for admission to college and obtaining scholarships to the nation’s top art colleges.
Art portfolio preparation
for long-distance living students
Students will learn how to develop dynamic drawings by strengthening observational skills and experimenting with a variety of styles and techniques.
We begin with basic warm-up exercises that train the eye to see the fundamentals of drawing and design. Students will investigate the power of line, the importance of composition, and the science of shading through a series of projects. With the use of perspective, proportion, scale, texture, contrast, and value, students will strengthen their artistic vision and visual style throughout the program.
Online Program Procedure Unit
UNIT 1
ENROLL
After you enroll in the program, Spotcolor's online program teachers will contact you via email and provide login credentials for Spotcolor’s private Google Meet and Google Hangout
UNIT 5
Art Lessons
The art lessons are very thought provoking and will allow you to find your own personal artistic voice and style throughout the intensive program. You will complete over 30 pieces of artwork and have communication with the teachers throughout the program..
UNIT 2
Class & Assignment
Classes through Google Hangouts and home art assignments that the teachers have created to guide you through the process of concept and execution of a project by Google Meet. The assignments are designed specially to guide you through the process of developing and creating your high quality college art portfolio.
UNIT 6
Digital Photos
You are expected to take digital photos of your completed and work-in-progress assignments and upload them to our private Google Drive where we will hold our critiques.
UNIT 3
Feedback
You will receive feedback from the specialized Spotcolor Institute teachers through the Google Meet and Google Hangouts on art projects.
UNIT 7
Critiques
You will receive feedback and support from the teachers during the critiques. Comments about what is working and what is not working in your pieces and recommendations on how to change and develop your work for your own artistic growth.
UNIT 4
on-site classes program (Optional)
If you have selected the option for the private on-site classes program once a month, then the teachers will contact you to make an appointment for the first individual class meeting. Students will be required to bring two of their original pieces to the meetings for an in-depth critique before storing their work in their portfolio.
UNIT 8
Final Works
*long-distance living students- will submit images of their portfolio to Spotcolor to be adjusted and organized for submitting online.
*Local students- will have collected their physical portfolios at the local branches for Spotcolor to take photos of the work and create a digitalized portfolio ready to be submitted online.
